This is the St Peter's Garrison Church. Built in it would have housed prisoners from a variety of humble backgrounds. When I first came onto the Island I found out that I was trespassing when I tried to have a look around the building. An Islander told me that the owners HMP had sold the building for £5,000 to private buyers. It is used for weddings and band practices but there is no public access. Another instance of the privatisation of public space.

In another instance, the owner of the building which houses Underhill library has applied to covert the library space into flats.
